the Times Classification of Arab Universities is one of the most prominent regional classifications, as it relies on a methodology close to the global classification, while adapting some indicators to suit the specificity of the Arab academic environment.

the classification focuses on evaluating the performance of universities in a number of areas, including: quality of the educational environment, scientific research, scientific publishing and citations, knowledge transfer and innovation, international openness, and societal impact.
