The University of Hafr Al-Batin is located in Hafr Al-Batin Governorate, one of the governorates of the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The university was established by Royal Decree No. 20937 dated 02/06/1435 AH (April 3, 2014 AD). It was joined by branches of two established universities: King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and the University of Dammam (currently known as Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University).

This academic mix has given the university diverse expertise and a solid scientific foundation, enabling it to achieve outstanding accomplishments in record time and contributing to the building of a competitive academic force.

Since its inception, the university has sought to fulfill the aspirations of the wise leadership through a strategic plan with clear objectives. This plan aims to produce graduates who adhere to Islamic values and principles and possess the qualitative knowledge and skills that qualify them to contribute to comprehensive development and participate in nation-building.

The university has adopted ambitious educational curricula in line with Saudi Vision 2030, focusing on raising the quality of education to the highest standards, preparing graduates with highly professional skills capable of meeting the needs of the labor market and future careers. It has also worked to develop the scientific research system, enhance its role in serving the community, build effective local and international partnerships, develop human capital, drive digital transformation, and improve operational efficiency.

As a result of these efforts, the university has obtained full, unconditional institutional accreditation from the Education and Training Evaluation Commission until 2029 and has achieved a distinguished presence in several international rankings. Its students have also achieved advanced positions in professional examinations and won prestigious local and international awards.

The university continues its journey to improve the quality of its executive work and develop its programs to strengthen its position among universities, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
