for the second year in a row, the university achieved a qualitative leap in the UI GreenMetric international sustainability rankings for the year 2025, as it ranked among the top 800 universities globally with the participation of universities from more than 100 countries, advancing more than 100 places compared to last year.

this leap reflects - praise be to God - the success of the programs and initiatives implemented by the university in the field of environmental sustainability, and the high level of application of sustainability standards in its various facilities and projects in accordance with the national development goals and the Saudi Vision 2030.

the UI GreenMetric classification is based on six main criteria, including: education and research, energy and climate change, water management, waste management, and sustainable transportation, in addition to infrastructure, through 58 indicators that measure the level of universities’ commitment to sustainability standards.

the University of Hafr Al-Batin has embodied this commitment through an academic and research work system that promotes the principles of sustainability and raises environmental awareness through student activities and community initiatives, in addition to implementing specific programs that have contributed to enhancing its presence in international classifications.
